Leave No Trace - A Hiker's Yarn

I was inspired to use Twine to write an interactive fiction. Some of my knitterly friends and I were discussing the idea of writing knitting patterns inspired by the principles of Leave No Trace. I decided to take a crack at combining these two inspirations in one.

Leave No Trace - A Hiker's Yarn
Many of us have picked flowers or collected rocks, wandered off the trail to avoid mud puddles or get a closer look at something, tossed an apple core into the woods or beckoned a chipmunk closer by offering to share trail mix. All of these actions may seem harmless, but they pose various risks and severely impact our natural resources and the quality of our and others' outdoor recreation experiences. This knitalong is designed as an exploration of outdoor ethics known as the Leave No Trace (LNT) Principles.

This is a scarf project that uses about 440 yards of worsted weight yarn on 5mm needles. It is recommended that you make your joins between skeins of yarn at the edges of the work rather than in the middle. Once blocked and knit as written, the final product is about 70" long. You can make it longer by knitting additional repeats of sections. You can turn it into an infinity scarf by doing a provisional cast on plus two rows of stockinette instead of Cast on A or B, and finishing with two rows and a kitchener stitch to join the ends. It is a choose your own knitting adventure after all!

If you are familiar with LNT go ahead and start with Cast on A. If you are not familiar with LNT, or just want to choose this option for personal curiosity reasons, go ahead and start with Cast on B.
