what's worse than socks and sandals?

I guess there are several things that are worse than socks and sandals - but for an example, I would like to present exhibit A, above. Here we have a walk down to Manhattan Beach, CA, and the look of choice appears to have been tights with plaid shorts and white socks and tennis shoes. If it was cool enough to do such extensive layering, one might consider wearing pants. However, this clearly made a much more uh... "definitive" uh... "fashion" statement. Well, it might not have been "fashion", but it was definitely a statement. Loud and clear!

With those Taut Calves and that Bodacious Bootie, there is no such thing as a Fashion Faux pas.

Or maybe the Jeans didn't fit after the Thanksgiving "Turkey"?

As I'm writing this, the snow is falling...You going home for Christmas, Nat?
Apparently Canadians can be recognised in Britain by their footwear. Yes, sometimes thick wooly socks with Birks...is that a faux pas? Really? Damn. But then this is coming from the geo gal whose winter footwear staple for the past five (yep, blatant advertisement here) years has been my beloved Blundstones. Not quite the epitomy of fashion as seen by the Brits. Which is of course a questionable stance itself...
Still, we wouldn't stoop as low as the guy in your shot. Scary stuff.

Heather, yes I am going "home" for Christmas... Geologists are mostly exempt from rules regarding Birks, Blundstones, and Docs as far as I'm concerned (my beloved Birks I'm sure were just as stylish as your Blundstones were!) - but we geo folk would never wear tights and shorts, I am absolutely positive about that. It's just not practical layering!

Pants me damned! The liberation has started in California. Over sized shorts and form hugging spandex for all!

Does the socks OVER everything else mean that slouch socks will soon follow in the fashion resurrection?? Keep your eyes on California!!
