Enjoying my new state of residence

While adventuring around this lovely (but nowhere near long enough) Spring Break, I have been in constant awe of suprising beauty in the countryside, ghastly landfill-esque dumps in the countryside, and the juxtaposition of the world of oil and gas on our poor unsuspecting land.

Awesome shots!... and I envy your nerdy experience of jumping from plate to plate. Very cool!

Can you tell me what I'm looking at in photo number 2. I'm intrigued by it's repeating symmetry. I think I would have had a lot of fun photographing it.

photo number 2 are rusty gas release pipes from the oil/gas pipeline... just over the rolling wild flower covered hills to the left is an oil and gas separator. I know you would love photographing that, but I have WAY more kilometersy oil things that I just need to bring my camera out to photograph for you...

Yippee for Oil and Gas!

It should also be noted that the gas seperated from the oil can be used to generate electricity, which in turn allows one to run computers, and therefore blog.

The oil is used to make gasoline and depending on the oil grade, asphalt.

All of which allows one to drive into the countryside to take in it's beauty, contrasts and to breath the carbon monoxide filled air that sunny California is so famous for (whity brown haze in the background).
